Campus Party Europe In Berlin 2012

When technology and science enthusiasts come together, you need a pretty big place to house them all. Thankfully Berlin has just the answer - the Templehof former airport. It's the site of the famous Berlin Airlift, with the building itself one of the biggest in the world. It's not food supplies that are housed inside this week, though, but campus party attendees, around 10,000 of them, many camping out in the shell of this huge building.

However, our main interest was in the modding talent heading for the show. Forum users thechoozen, p0Pe, Editor22, alain-s and Paslis were just some of the modders attending the event, and with some of our favourite projects too.

We saw this one last time but it’s still one of our favourites – PB-Beto by p0Pe with its green acrylic wrapped in black foil, and UK modder E22 spent less than a week making E22 - K2 - a fantastic-looking scratchbuild featuring some awesome use of Mayhem’s white pastel coolant, just for Campus Party. p0Pe also brought his huge M8 project along, complete with 3D printed details including a model of a Maus german tank destroyer from WWII tank sim World Of Tanks.

One of 2011’s best projects was here, too – White by alain-s looks even more stunning in the flesh than it does in his project log or subsequent articles here on bit-tech. Sitting alongside White is one of the best desk projects we’ve seen and Desk Art comes from forum user Psalis whose original desk project inspired last year’s mod of the year winner, l3p.

Above is Paslis and alain-s together with their creations and Paslis on the right proudly showing us his hydraulic desk lid.

The stars of the show though, were several steampunk projects which you can see over the page. Thechoozen’s Heart of Columbia was on show, with other extensively steampunked PCs also drawing a lot of attention. We’ll leave you with some more eye candy but let us know what you think in the forum.
